Tampa, Fla. — July 27, 2007 — MiMedx, Inc.
announces the hiring of Dr. John H. Long, Jr., Professor of Biology at Vassar
College, to serve as its Senior Scientist. Trained in biomechanics at Duke
University, Dr. Long will assist MiMedx in the Company's core biomaterials
research, bioprosthesis development, and R&D infrastructure management.
A long-time collaborator of Dr. Thomas Koob, MiMedx's Chief
Scientific Officer, Dr. Long has expertise in the biomechanical
characterization of vertebrate connective tissues and in the modeling of how
tendons and ligaments function in association with muscle during complex
movements. His laboratory has been funded by the Bioengineering Program of the
Office of Naval Research and the Division of Biological Infrastructure at the
National Science Foundation. With his experience analyzing and simulating
musculo-skeletal systems, Dr. Long will help guide MiMedx in the design of
bioprostheses that mimic and extend the mechanical behavior of native tendons
and ligaments.
