MiMedx Signs Exclusive License for NDGA Technology

Tampa, Fla. — January 29, 2007 — MiMedx Inc. (MDX), an R&D company specializing in connective tissue technology, announced today that it has signed an exclusive license with Shriner’s Hospital for Children (SHC) and the University of South Florida Research Foundation (USF) for Dr. Thomas Koob’s NDGA technology.

The strength of the core technology licensed to MiMedx is embodied in Dr. Koob’s patent.  It covers the polymerization chemistry of NDGA as applied to any biological material, bioprosthesis or device created through its application. NDGA is a potent natural antioxidant of plant origin and can be found in the creosote bush.

MiMedX will initially focus on commercializing biomaterial-based products indicated for connective and soft tissue repair. The Company’s first target will be products for the repair of injuries to musculoskeletal system.

About Shriner’s Hospital for Children

Shriners Hospitals for Children is a network of 22 pediatric hospitals in the U.S., Canada and Mexico that provide specialized care for orthopaedic conditions, burns, spinal cord injuries and cleft lip and palate. Eligibility for care is not based on financial need or relationship to a Shriner.

About the University of South Florida Research Foundation

The University of South Florida Research Foundation was established in June 1989 to promote, encourage and provide assistance to the research activities of University faculty , staff and students. This not-for-profit organization provides a means by which discoveries, inventions, processes and work products of the USF faculty, staff and student can be transferred from the University laboratory to benefit the public. Funds generated by such discoveries are used to enhance research at the University.
