Our History Will Define a New Generation for Millions of
Patients
Years ago our Chief Scientific Officer, Thomas J. Koob, PhD, and his colleagues discovered that a naturally-occurring chemistry called nordihydroguaiaretic acid, or NDGA, facilitates the cross-linking of collagen fibers to form a very strong tissue. Utilizing a similar chemistry, the team was able to produce tissue bioprostheses for pre-clinical use in tendon and ligament repair.
Similar breakthroughs are taking shape within our subsidiaries. For example, SpineMedica, LLC is focused on commercializing medical technologies for application in the spine to treat chronic and acute back pain. The core technology is embodied in a license to use SalubriaT biomaterial for motion-preserving spine implants. Beyond spine technologies, we see the potential ahead to successfully repair soft tissue and advance extremities, small bone and joint orthopedic care with Salubria-based biomaterial orthopedic implants.
It is our goal to further develop these technologies into production-ready solutions that will treat a whole new generation of extremities, spine and soft-tissue damage.
